BiographyFazeela is a Indian, born in Singapore in the year 1995. She has lived in Singapore for almost 20 years. Her religion is Islam. She has always been artistically inclined at a very young age, always taking interest in the arts from the age of 13 to 20.
Artist statementFazeela Binte Mohamed Raffi is currently a final year student in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, pursuing her diploma in Fine Art. She took up History of Fashion in her first year at Nanyang Academy of Fine arts. Fazeela also had the opportunity to learn Fashion illustration in her second year at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She is now currently also learning about Textile Manipulation while working on her final year project before she graduates.
Fazeela’s artistic practice focuses on oil painting mainly but she also explores outside of painting and experiments with other materials such as glue and wax for installation works. She is has explored on the topic of Religion, specifically Islam, and how she can express it through her artworks. She has already done a performance art based on the religion, Islam. She is now exploring Faith as a more general topic, in which faith does not necessarily lead back to religion but Faith in oneself.
